As a major supplier to the construction industry, we are always developing, researching and improving our innovative system solutions for the concrete and brick/ blockwork sectors. Under the slogan 'Innovative Building solutions', our aims are to provide high quality, easy-to-install products and to meet these aims we invest heavily in technical research and product development.

Schöck's core competencies lie in providing tried and trusted solutions for applications such as thermal energy insulation, noise suppression and new building protection, through the installation of our Isokorb®, Novomur® and Tronsole® ranges. We are constantly looking for ways to improve our products and redefine technical boundaries. In the field of reinforcement technology Schöck are well on the way to adding new core competencies with the anti-punching shear Bole® system and the dowel system (ESD/SLD).

We also place a very high value on customer support and offer a totally comprehensive information service which includes: planning, in-house training, seminars, measurement programs, comprehensive technical details and what's more, your area co-ordinator can arrange the technical backup necessary to help you construct simply better buildings... with simply better construction methods.

With a handful of employees, Eberhard Schöck started a construction company which specialised in providing cellars for pre-fabricated houses... The Schöck Building Co.
1963
The Schöck Building Co. grew into a construction concern which dealt with projects from all areas; Private housing, industrial developments and City projects. Due to the speed of its growth the Schöck company was soon able to successfully take on projects in other regions of Germany. For example Munich, Mühlacker and Heilbronn.

The former farm buildings which up to now had served as the headquarters in Baden-Baden's suburb of Varnhalt were rebuilt to create a warehouse and two offices. The Schöck Concrete Element company was formed. Two further buildings were erected on the Steinbacher industrial estate, now the site of our present Headquarters.

On April 1st. the construction company and the newly formed "Schöck Concrete Element co." moved into their new premises in Steinbach industrial estate.
1969
The Schöck-Inpor cellar window became the company's first product, one whose innovative design did away with the need for shuttering and recesses for windows in 'In-situ' poured cellars.

Schöcks new products were launched at the BAUMA exhibition in Munich. One of which was the glass-fibre polyester light shaft. The unique oval form (which offered increased stability) helped reduce the time and effort involved in the erection and dismantling of shuttering in concrete light shafts - and indeed in all types of light shafts.
1976
Further products for cellars such as fibre reinforced concrete windows and frames, designed by our own research team, were launched on the market. On 1st. December Schöck Concrete Element co. became "Schöck Bauteile GmbH " (the Schöck construction component company).
1979
Whilst on his skiing vacation, Eberhard Schöck noticed some damp ceilings which had been caused by the forming of a 'Thermal Bridging' effect between the ceilings and cantilever balconies. This was the start of an idea which was to culminate in the groundbreaking Schöck Isokorb® and its solution to such problems. On March 1st the Feli Bauteile AG (now a subsidiary of Schöck, called Schöck Ebea AG) started to sell Schöck products in Switzerland. In the same year, Schöck Concrete components, which is now based in Vienna, was opened in Kremsmunster to launch the Schöck range of products in Austria.

The Schöck Isokorb®....a heat insulation element with connective reinforcement was launched onto the market with its revolutionary solution to the problems and damage caused by thermal bridging in cantilever balconies.
1985
Launch of: The Schöck Tronsole®, impact noise protection for stairways, helping to create a better, quieter, living environment and quickly became an irreplaceable part of todays construction methods. The Tronsole® V was the beginning. In the years to come the Tronsole Z and T would broaden the range of solutions on offer.

Schöck Isomur®, another thermal protection product, this time for protection against vertical thermal bridges forming at first course level either in cellars or foundation slabs, came off the starting line. Target area multi-level/storey construction. The Eberhard Schöck scholarship programme was launched, the aims of which were to actively support and encourage apprenticeship training for young people from east European states. Its funding coming from the transfer of approximately 30 % of Schöck shares.

The arrival of the Schöck Staifix® DSD (double dowel system) realised efficient and economical transfer of shear/transverse forces at expansion joints between concrete components. Schöck AG (the equivalent of a limited company) was founded. Eberhard Schöck became the Chairman of the board of directors.

Construction and official opening of the Dölbau/Queis (between Leipzig and Halle) plant as a production base for the Inset-body frame system. Further expansion of the Isokorb ® range increased its versatility and broadened the horizons for its use. The Tronsole® type Q was launched to help solve problems in prefabricating plants.
1996
With the release of the Isokorb® KH on to the market, a product which is specifically for fitting wooden balconies to reinforced concrete slabs, Schöcks pole position in the field of energy-saving thermal insulation and its market dominance as a specialist in dealing with cantilever balcony problems was further assured. A customer service/support network began in France.
1997
At the BAU (construction exhibition) in Munich a completely new reinforcing component made from glass-fibre reinforced synthetics was the next innovation to be launched onto the market by Schöck. April 1st our partner company Ribema Bouwsysteme B. V. became a fully fledged part of the company and a subsidiary of Schöck. For the first time, Schöck took part in the Paris based BATIMAT exhibition and its products took the market by storm.

The official opening of the logistics facility in Essen, which serves as the delivery nerve centre for Western Europe, was cause for celebration. Based on the different construction methods used in France the Rutherma® model was launched as the star of the fleet.

Two typically innovative products were released on to the market in this year. The Isokorb® KX with new pressure bearing pad (with the specification name DQ) one of its many advantages being greatly reduced installation time. Also, the cellar window Inset 2000, offering new possibilities for basement window installation.

The range of Schöck products continued to grow with the addition of Schöck Isomur® light, designed for use in single occupier dwellings. With the punching shear reinforcement system, the Schöck BOLE®, once again Schöck had created a benchmark in reinforcement technology. As an extension to the classic customer care service a country-wide advice service for architects and planners, The Schöck Planner service, was launched.

For easier and better project planning, two measurement programmes were designed and launched; For the BOLE® system and for the type SLD DORN. The new dowels, capable of bearing heavier loads, replaced the Dorn Staifix and thereby guaranteed greater freedom of planning expression and help ensure ease of 'after first fix projects'. At the end of the year Schöck received validation for its collar system MODIX® - a new screw-fixing system for steel reinforcement. Schöck took over the "Warmth and sound" division of MEA Meisinger AG and, in turn, handed over the development and business sections of the basement window and lightshaft to a consortium led by MEA. The basement products will be dealt with in future by SyproSchöck GmbH.

Featuring a number of product innovations to help our customers meet early compliance with the new energy saving regulations, the Isokorb® KX with pressure bearing pad, Isokorb® KST and Novomur® - with the slogan "Warmer than ever before" - were introduced. Also this year saw the introduction of the measurement program in France, Poland and Czechoslovakia, all of which meant a good year for Schöck, and of course, for its turnover.

Schöck makes a breakthrough in tunnel construction with the Schöck ComBAR® GFRP reinforcement. As one of its many potential applications, ComBAR ® is used here for the temporary reinforcement of diaphragm walls in tunnel projects, such as the Vienna Valley Collector (Wientalsammler) and the North-South route of the Amsterdam underground. The new HTE module of the Schöck Isokorb® with noticeably improved thermal insulation properties and greater ease of installation represents another milestone in the history of Isokorb ®. The striking new design of the product also sets new standards.

2004 At the international BAUMA trade fair in Munich (International Trade Fair for Construction Machinery, Building Material Machines, Construction Vehicles and Equipment), Schöck presents the new Schöck ComBAR® and the fifth generation of the new Isokorb ® with the HTE module. On behalf of Schöck, the renowned Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics in Stuttgart runs a series of tests in order to compare Isokorb to products supplied by rival manufacturers in Germany. The result: Schöck Isokorb® with the HTE module is found to have the best insulating properties (test report P7-286/2003). Schöck receives the "TOP JOB" prize from Prof. Gertrud Höhler for the company’s excellent personnel management.

Company founder Eberhard Schöck celebrates his 70th birthday and retires from the board of directors. He is replaced by his son Robin Schöck. However, the innovative thinking behind the company continues. One example for this is the "TOP 100" prize awarded to Schöck this year by Prof. Lothar Späth, a national award in Germany for the best innovation management. In addition, the company is also awarded the international "Investors in People" quality standard for personnel management.

Schöck sets further milestones in terms of the internationalization of the company with the foundation of a subsidiary in the United Kingdom, the opening of a representative office in Moscow and first appearances at trade fairs outside Europe in Dubai and Canada. In addition, the company is also awarded certification in accordance with the European standard ISO 9001:2000.

After the breakthrough in tunnel construction, ComBAR opened the international market for new applications in structural engineering, e.g. multi-storey car parks, industrial floors, façades and bridge engineering. As a further innovation, Schöck's balcony systems now provide not only a component but a complete solution for balcony construction in new buildings and renovations. The German website was relaunched and now offers numerous new services for all customer groups.

Eberhard Schöck, the company founder, was amongst the finalists in the "Entrepreneur of the Year 2008" competition, recognizing him as one of the top entrepreneurs amongst German small and medium enterprises. Schöck's international orientation is now reflected in the new brand image “Innovative Building Solutions”. The new Type XT represents the sixth generation of the Schöck Isokorb®. This type features a greater insulation thickness, 30% better thermal insulation and 50% better impact sound insulation compared with its predecessor model.

The global economic and financial crisis has affected Schöck as well and has been causing the company's revenue to drop significantly, though it dropped less than the market average. Important factors in the company's success have been a head start on product campaigns, consistent cost management, and process optimizations. Opposing the general trend, Schöck opens subsidiaries in France and Canada. Schöck introduces the successful Isokorb® generation XT in Switzerland and Austria.

Schöck emerges from the crisis stronger than before and continues to focus on growth by means of innovation and internationalization. New business areas are established. Schöck Balkonsysteme GmbH is established for the distribution and engineering of system solutions for the retrospective installation of balconies in existing buildings. In addition, a Competence Centre is started to give the glass fibre reinforcement ComBAR its own platform for marketing. Marketing outside of Europe continues with efforts in South Korea and North America.

Upon gaining technical approval Schöck introduces the Isokorb® R product series for the energy-efficient retrospective connection of balconies to existing buildings. Thus, Schöck now also offers an Isokorb® solution for the renovation market. A new production hall at the Baden-Baden location is constructed and commissioned for further growth in internationalization. The company's sustainability of quality management is honoured with an award, the Ludwig Erhard-Preis 2011.

Schöck celebrates its 50th anniversary and opens the Schöck Museum, which provides an insight into the 50 years of innovation at Schöck. The international promotion efforts of the company's main product outside of Europe continue with the introduction of Isokorb® in Canada and the United States. Following a successful audit by the International Quality Centre in London, the Schöck Group receives the "Silver" Award as Investors in People.
